May

May comes with milestones.

It’s my birthday next week.

Not a major one. Just a run of the mill number.

But, it must be celebrated.

I’m grateful to still be here.

To see my kids grow and succeed.

I’m grateful for the challenges life continues to throw at me.

For a campaign to run.

For those who do not celebrate their birthdays, I beg you to reconsider.

It’s a beautiful gift to close out another year on this planet.

To look at how far you’ve come and dream about where else you’ll go.

And we mark 5 years this May.

5 years since Adam died - so suddenly. So unexpectedly.

The lessons we’ve learned -

That time is finite. Some get much less than they deserve.

We should not waste moments.

Show up for people. Make room in your schedule.

Say yes to more adventures and no to things that steal your joy.

We will share some stories. Enjoy a good whiskey.

Remember the husband and father we lost.

I will let this one go quietly.

I can feel the weight of it. I do not want to plan, or coordinate, or schedule.

It does not mean it is not recognized.

The day is marked. It is heavy, but can still carry light.

I will remember Adam and the life we built and be grateful for the years we had.
